Lóvi Face Scanning

Skincare shelves are overflowing, and yet finding what truly works still feels impossible. Chasing new serums and creams, and hoping the next one will be the one, while perfectly good products gather dust. The truth is — understanding your skin is hard, and building the right routine is even harder.
Around 67% of people in US say that their confidence is affected by skin issues. And 31% of adults report feeling unhappy, dissatisfied, or unconfident about their skin, according to recent surveys. This figure has risen, with 44% feeling worse about their skin now compared to five years ago.
That’s why we built Lóvi — a personal AI cosmetologist. It curates a routine tailored just for you, checks new products fit, and helps you track real progress over time with face scan. No more guesswork.
User challenge: Stop wasting time and money on skincare that doesn't work and achieve skin goals.
Product challenge: Create a system that drives acquisition → activation → retention, increasing the likelihood that users form daily skincare habits and find product-market fit.
Business challenge: Find a scalable and profitable solution, while making cosmetology accessible.
Through constant user research process and UserTesting sessions we established top user needs to address in Lóvi:

Identify what skin issues to focus

Solution
Lóvi’s experience is shaped around a clear user journey. This allowed us to design both a habit-forming loop and lifecycle around user goals instead of features.
Main purpose of this step is to gather essential data to build the foundation for personalization while clearly explaining Lóvi’s value.

Onboarding is like a living organism always evolving into a more robust version after numerous hypothesis testing.
Each iteration was tested on users to gather initial feedback for improvements, and most importantly through multiple A/B experiments, always focusing on user goal, product & business metrics along the way.

During the initial assessment one of the main part is to create the connection with user and gain their trust by identifying what skin issues to focus:

Scan Report
The face scanning process is our key a-ha factor, that diferrantiates us from our competitors. It went through a multiple of iterations, currently in a state of a 12-photo scanning process with an AI report at the end with current skin state description, main goal validation and suggestions based on skin condition.
One of the biggest UX challenges was to create a clear instructions for scanning as well as smooth loading process as it may take up to 60 seconds to load a report after a successful scan.
After the assessment and a face scan report we can finally suggest an unbiased list of skincare products:

The scanner and suggested routine are Lóvi’s largest contributors to user trust and conversion.
Or put simply, the main scenarios responsible for user retention. Lightweight daily tasks, deeper weekly assessments with checklists designed around dopamine loops, not pressure.

Content Stories
We experimented with adding affirmations to create a shareable, potentially viral feature, but it didn’t gain meaningful traction. Despite solid execution, users didn’t see it as core to their skincare journey, so it didn’t contribute to engagement or growth as hoped.

Affirmation

Affirmation Share Screen
To address the user need in evaluating products' safety, suitability, and cost-efficiency, I designed the end-to-end experience of cosmetic scanner, from the scanning flow to the product page.

The product page became a key area of experimentation, where we refined how product information is presented to quickly build trust.
Through multiple iterations, we simplified explanations, improved hierarchy, and clarified “why this works for you,” making the page easy to grasp and more effective at keeping users engaged and confident in their routine.

As generative AI exploded in consumer products, we knew we couldn’t miss the opportunity to integrate it into Lóvi in a way that felt genuinely useful — not just trendy.
Not just a shelled GPT, but one knowing about your skin condition with ability to suggest skincare products and give answers based on scientific data.
We focused on real user value: clarifying routines, providing explanations, and offering emotionally supportive guidance during the skincare journey.

Solution
Lóvi's main user acquisition channel is a web funnel, keeping it all profitable. I iterated on dozens of funnel & screen variants to achieve a LTV/CPA >> 1.

We implemented a lightweight face scanner directly in the web funnel, giving users an immediate taste of Lóvi’s core value before the app.
This significantly boosted conversions, improved funnel economics, and helped us reach a positive LTV/CPA ratio — bringing the business close to break-even with a scalable growth model.

Here are examples of additional screens from the many tests we ran over three years of continuous iteration. Every step was refined and polished through user research and A/B experiments, all with the goal of steadily improving the overall conversion.

I designed and built lovi.care, an award-winning landing page that generated 1M+ organic views and became a key driver of brand visibility and credibility.

I also designed and built a page explaining our tailored Cosmetic Fit Score, which earned an Honorable Mention in Framer Awards 2024.
